Shopping for snack foods can be a difficult task because you have so many options. Why not try some of the following healthy snacks the next time you need some extra energy?

Yogurt can be a snack a lot of people take for granted. The fact is, lots of people will substitute a container of yogurt for a healthy lunch-something we don’t recommend. As a food, however, yogurt is one of the very best things you can reach for. It is a protein-rich resource of nutritious vitamins and minerals. Easily digestible, yogurt can also help your digestive system work appropriately depending upon the culture used to make it. Easy hint: select unsweetened yogurt and add walnuts or flaxseeds. This decreases your sugar absorption without reducing the taste of your snack.

Steps to make Kelly's Dill Pickles:
  1. Prepare and process canning jars and lids according to manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Add basil, oregano, garlic, peppers, mustard seed and to each jar.
  3. Add cucumbers to each jar, packing tightly.
  4. Follow instructions on Mrs. Wages dill pickle packet and fill jars with hot liquid. Before placing lids on the jars, wipe the lid with a clean cloth to clear excess moisture.
  5. After filling jars, place upside down on a clean towel and leave overnight to seal. The directions call for a hot water bath but I find this makes the pickles too soft. If any do not seal just put them in the refrigerator.
